More Details…
Raw hair is 100% unprocessed; this hair literally is cut from one donor head, wash with shampoo/conditioner, and then placed to a machine weft. Raw hair will not have uniform or processed curls.
What we call virgin hair now is usually steam processed a bit for uniform color and curls but it is not processed like beauty supply store hair. Steam process means they design the curls to look exactly alike in a steam room. For example, Body wave has the perfect “S” shape from top to bottom. No one natural hair texture will come in such a perfect shape. Virgin hair does not have acidic chemicals or synthetic fibers, only steam.
Lace Wig 101
Questions and Answers to understand Cheve Extensions Wig Collection.
Regular Wigs vs Lace Wigs
Unlike regular wigs, Lace Wigs are made by individually hand tying strands of hair to a fine lace mesh material, which gives lace wigs superior advantages over regular wigs. The strands of hair tied to the lace material not only allows for a light weight fit but it also creates an impressive illusion of the hair growing out of the scalp. The lace, once adhered to the skin, virtually vanishes creating a natural looking and flawless hairline. Lace wigs also have amazing versatility and style flexibility. The full lace base allows the wig to be parted anywhere and can be worn in high ponytail or up do!
What is the difference between a Full lace wig and a Front lace wig?
Full Lace Wigs" are lace wigs which are designed with the entire wig cap being made from lace allowing for style versatility including multi-directional parting and the ability to style high up dos and ponytails. "Lace Front Wig" or Front Lace Wig only has lace in the front of the wig and the remainder of the wig is made from a regular netted wig cap. As a result, Lace front wigs have limited style possibilities.
Can I color the wig?
Only if your unit is 100% Raw or Virgin hair! Because Remy hair, has already been dyed (with industrial strength dye) and processed, additional processing may not take the color. In most cases, it will be difficult to achieve the desired color because the hair has already been dyed black or dark brown. If you would like to color your lace wig, we recommend purchasing one of our Virgin hair lace wigs. Virgin hair has not been previously processed or colored and therefore can be colored easily.
Can the hair be flat ironed or curled?
The hair is 100% human hair therefore you can use curling and flat irons. However, like your natural hair, the hair can get damaged due to overheating. We recommend limiting the use of hot tools on the hair. Wet setting the hair and letting it air dry is most preferred.
Do lace wigs Shed?
Yes, some shedding is to be expected due to the fact that the hair on lace wig is hand tied by a single knot (sometimes double knots) to the lace. As with natural hair, brushing, combing and styling can lead to shedding. Proper care must be taken when styling your wig to minimize shedding.
How long will my wig last?
Virgin Human Hair Lace wigs generally last anywhere from 2-5 years depending on care and how often you wear it. Raw hair lace wigs generally last from six months to one year, also depending on care and use.
What density should I order and why does it matter?
Density is defined as how thick or thin the hair on the unit is. The standard and most popular choice is 130% which is Medium Density. The average human head is considered 100% density so 130% is thicker. Most women achieve a natural appearance with light to medium or medium density; however, your choice will depend on your personal style preference.
